1. What number do I call in an emergency? A non-emergency?

Emergencies: Call 911, and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Communications will take care of emergency dispatching of Davidson Police, Fire, or EMS.

Non-emergencies: Even if the situation doesn't seem like an emergency, please do call 911. 

911 should be used any time you need a police response, emergency or not. This might include: filing a police report for an alleged crime (in progress or not), reporting a traffic accident, illegal parking, noise complaints, road blockages and/or hazard, dangerous drivers, leash law violations, prostitution, attempted scams, financial identity fraud, credit card fraud, suspected elder abuse, misuse of sidewalks (skateboards, hover boards, electric scooters, and other similar conveyances), door-to-door soliciting, panhandling, etc.  

911 operators are trained to prioritize calls and assign report numbers. When 911 is bypassed, Davidson officers, etc. still have to route the call through 911.

2. Who do I call about an incident I've already reported?

If you need to update information you've already provided to a reporting officer, please email that officer directly. If you don't have their contact information, call the non-emergency police number at 704-892-5131 during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Someone at the front desk will be able to assist you.

3. How do I get a copy of my traffic accident report or a police report?

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., call 704-892-5131 and ask for the front desk. They will be able to assist you.

4. What are police department office hours?

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The on-duty shift supervisor can be reached during non-business hours by dialing 704-892-5131.

5. How do I sign up for a security check for my home?

7. How do I pay a parking ticket or town ordinance violation?

Payment Options

• You may pay fines for town ordinance violations, including parking, by using this online form.
• You may also pay for parking tickets in person at the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center (251 South Street). If you have questions, please call 704-892-7591.
• In accordance with applicable town ordinances, payments are due within 21 days from the date the ticket was issued. For information about submitting a request for an administrative review of the violation for which you've been cited, click HERE

9. What do I do if my car is towed?

Generally, Archer's Wrecker Service tows for the Davidson Police Department. Archer's Wrecker (704-892-9374) is located at 433 South Main Street in Davidson just two blocks down from Davidson Town Hall. Hunter Wrecker (704-375-9357), located at 1114 North Davidson Street, Charlotte, is also used occasionally. If your car has been towed and impounded due to no registration or other legal issue, you will need to prove current registration and bring a licensed driver to get your car out of impound. Each wrecker service has its own fee schedule for towing and daily storage. Call ahead to the wrecker service to confirm the amount of your charges and what form of payment they will and will not accept.

11. If I have property at the police department, how can I get it back?

Call Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 704-892-5131 and ask for the front desk. They will be able to assist you.

12. Where do I find the Town of Davidson ordinances (noise, leash law, and more)?

You can search for "noise," "dog," "leash," or other topics to find the specific information about those laws.

13. How can I arrange a tour of the Davidson Police Department and/or have a officer speak to my class, group, etc?

Please note that we are currently unable to offer tours of the Davidson Police Department as there is ongoing site construction at the Public Safety building. To arrange for a officer to speak to your class, group, etc, please use the online form HERE.

14. Do I need an alarm permit for my alarm system? If so, how do I register my alarm system?

Yes, in order to ensure that the Davidson Police Department responds, you do need to register your alarm system.
