Celebrate Independence Day in Davidson

July 4 Events 375 385

Residents are invited to celebrate our nation's independence with a homespun, small-town stroll and a concert on the green on Sunday, July 3. The parade will include a color guard, fire engine, and lots of patriotic residents.
To walk in the stroll, residents are asked to line up in front of the 251 South Street building at 5:15 p.m. Police will be closing off South Street (starting at Cathey Street) between 5:10 and 5:35 p.m. so that participants can line up in the road and on the sidewalks. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. All participants are encouraged to march in the parade dressed in Independence Day attire and to decorate their wagons, bicycles, tricycles, and pets in red, white, and blue. A color guard comprised of members of the police and fire departments will lead the parade up South Street onto Main Street and the town green.
"This is a fun way for our entire community to come together and show our Davidson spirit," said Economic Development Manager Kim Fleming.
The concert begins at 6:00 p.m. and features Rivermist, a Classic Rock, R&B, variety band. Learn more about them on their website by clicking here.
"We hope to see neighbors from all over the community -- from the Circles at 30 all the way to the extra-territorial jurisdiction -- in the stroll and on the green to hear some great music," said Fleming.
The Davidson Police Department reminds residents to keep their own safety and that of their neighbors in mind this holiday -- per the North Carolina General Statute, fireworks are strictly prohibited for personal use.
