The patrolling of Davidson's greenway system as well as its parks is often done on foot, bicycle, or Polaris police vehicle. Newly acquired by state grant funds, the Polaris vehicle is fully equipped to respond as an emergency vehicle and contains first responder equipment such as a first aid kit and automated external defribrillator (AED).
Officers are trained in the use of all equipment, including training for bike patrol and the use of bike patrol for crowd control. Bike officers participate in a variety of events in Davidson and also assist our regional partners. For example, bike officers have assisted with the town's Bike/Walk to School days, the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, and annual police memorial rides.
