Mission and Values

Mission Statement

The mission of the Davidson Police Department (DPD) is to provide a safe environment in which residents and non-residents can live and work.  This mission shall be accomplished through the prompt and fair enforcement of local and state laws.  It is therefore the policy of the Davidson Police Department to provide honest, fair and efficient law enforcement services to all people within its jurisdiction.

Core Values

Teamwork

Each officer is an integral part of the DPD team, and the department is an integral part of the town government's team. Because of this, members of the DPD will create and foster opportunities for teamwork with town residents in order to develop and deliver a higher quality of service that goes beyond the enforcement of laws and ordinances.

Professionalism

Residents expect and deserve qualified, trained, skilled law enforcement practitioners.

Ethics

Department members need to be accountable to their oath of office, to town residents, and to each other. The oath of office includes pledging to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the laws of the state of North Carolina as well as a promise to faithfully and impartially discharge law enforcement duties according to the best of the department members’ skill, ability and judgment. It demands that the DPD enforces the law courteously and appropriately, without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force, keeping in mind that the badge is a symbol of the public faith and public trust.

Accountability

Davidson Police Department members will hold themselves and each other to the highest standards of their chosen profession—law enforcement.
