Shakespeare on the Green: The Town of Davidson is excited to announce a new event this year, Shakespeare on the Green. We will feature ‘The Tempest’ in coordination with The Davidson Community Players and Hough High School. Performances will be held on the town green on May 12 at 6:00 p.m., May 13 at 6:00 p.m., and May 14 at 2:00 p.m. This event is a community partnership between the Town of Davidson, Davidson College Friends of the Arts, Davidson Community Players, and Hough High School.
“ReadDavidson aligns perfectly with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s mission to ‘improve lives and build a stronger community,’ said Davidson Branch of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library manager Ellen Giduz. “We’re proud to be a partner in this initiative that does so much to enrich our community.
“My fourth novel is about a traveling Shakespearean theatre company in a post-apocalyptic North America,” said author Emily St. John Mandel. “It's also about friendship, memory, love, celebrity, our obsession with objects, oppressive dinner parties, comic books, and knife-throwing.”
The ReadDavidson initiative would not be possible without the support of the following sponsors: Main Street Books, the Davidson Branch of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, PostNet, DavidsonLearns, and the Town of Davidson.
