Town of Davidson COVID-19 Response
Assistant Town Manager Karen Whichard and I provided a COVID-19 Response update to the board. The discussion included the state mandated requirement for face coverings and the board’s recommendation for the Parks and Recreation Department process for access to the town’s baseball fields. Planning Director Jason Burdette presented options and recommendations for the board of commissioners to consider regarding Public Hearings, Quasi-Judicial Proceedings, and Public Input Sessions. The discussion included virtual meeting options, what peer communities are doing, and current Davidson projects impacted. The board directed staff to proceed with the recommendation to schedule the virtual Public Hearings, Quasi-Judicial Proceedings, and Public Input Sessions.
Affordable Housing, Equity & Inclusion Position and Programming

At the July 14 work session, Davidson Police Chief Penny Dunn will provide an overview of policies being reviewed through two lenses: 8 That Can’t Wait and the 21st Century Taskforce on Community Policing. The discussion will also look at use of force and community policing best practices.
The board of commissioners and staff will continue to hold virtual meetings on the Zoom platform and streamed via YouTube.
